Understand the model-to-drawing relationship
Keep the source geometry, section intent, synchronization step, and 2D presentation distinct as the project evolves.
Four parts of the workflow
01Source modelThe geometry and organization maintained in SketchUp or Blender.
02SectionThe deliberate cut or view that defines what the technical drawing needs to communicate.
03Occlusia LinkThe host-specific connection used to pass relevant model information into Occlusia.
04DrawingThe 2D result in which hatches, line styles, and annotations establish technical meaning.
Separate source from presentation
Model geometry should be corrected in the 3D host. Graphic decisions that explain the 2D view belong in Occlusia. Keeping that boundary clear makes later updates easier to review.
- Correct shape, position, and section orientation in the source model.
- Use line styles and hatches to clarify the drawing rather than to hide source issues.
- Use annotations for information that is not communicated reliably by geometry alone.
Treat synchronization as an explicit step
- 01
Save the source
Create a known state in the host before synchronizing.
- 02
Synchronize with the matching Link
Let the current operation finish before making another source change.
- 03
Review the affected views
Check geometry, hatches, line hierarchy, and annotations in context.
A useful section is intentional
- The cutting plane answers a specific documentation question.
- The view direction is unambiguous.
- The model contains only the relevant level of detail for the drawing.
- The section has a stable, recognizable name in the source file.
